I am Vern's wife, Nicole. What a fun slideshow! I especially loved the spider crawling across the floor at the beginning and all the great costumes. For about 8 years now Vern has dressed as a Chicago Cubs baseball player. I'm trying to get him to change it up a bit! Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for your comment on my blog. It means a lot to have so much support. I appreciate your empathy as it sounds like you've been through a lot too. It is very comforting to me to hear of people who have similar issues as Joseph and are doing well despite the surgeries and sickness. I dare to hope that his future will be brighter than his recent past has been! (although all of these trials have strengthened our faith and our family!) I look forward to meeting you, hopefully soon! Take care...
I love Dashboard Confessional....maybe we are kindred spirits! However, Vern DETESTS them. Wierdo! Anyway, Joseph was diagnosed in May with Mal-rotation of the bowel. He had ladds bands wrapped around his bowel which would clamp down on the bowel and cause blockages. He went through countless episodes of vommitting green for days at a time. No one could figure out what was wrong with him. (which is very alarming because from what I now know vommitting green along with no bowel movements is a huge red flag ...duh) Finally an amazing surgeon performed "Ladd's Procedure". We thought that would be the end of it. In August he started throwing up green again with no bowel movement. I freaked out and took him straight to the ER where they assured me he was fine. 48 hours later he was flown to the children's hospital again and rushed into surgery. This time they had waited so long that he was severely dehydrated and was in kidney failure. His organs all began to shut down. He was in the P-ICU for 9 days. The main cause of the blockage that time was scar tissue. This time when he began to vommitt the hospital actually took me seriously and we were flown the next day to the hospital where he had surgery. This time his omentum was causing the blockage. His surgeon removed 90% of the omentum and some scar tissue. Anyway...sorry for the very lengthy comment! Thanks again for your support...you've been through a lot, too. I hate to hear from an adult how awful the ng tube is. We may be in Rexburg for Christmas, so it's a date! Take care...
p.s. I love the name of your company - bellakate - how funny, I just told vern last night that if we ever have a girl I like the name Cathryn Belle (my first name it Cathryn) and that we could call her Catie Belle :)
