My Other Kids (The Furry Kind)

For a while I have been meaning to write about my three cats.

Toonces
: AKA my oldest child.
Tyler brought him home after we had been married for two months.
He was the cutest kitten but is now a bit neurotic and does
not get along well with others (cats that is).

Harry Potter: We have had Harry for about 5 years.
Kate wanted to name him Santa Clause. He's all black. We
settled on Harry Potter. It seemed a better fit.
He is the laid back one of the bunch and tends to "tease" the other
cats and can be a bit annoying. However, he loves attention from people and
is the cat that loves it so much he will let babies and toddlers pull his tail and what not.
Don't tell the others but he is my favorite.

Oscar: We got Oscar from a neighbor's cat who had had kittens. I don't
know what I was thinking getting another cat. Moron! He's a bit neurotic as well
but keeps us entertained by sitting like a person. Weird, I know.

These three cats have it pretty good over here. If I died right now and had to be reincarnated into an animal, I would want to be a cat that lives at my house. They lead the most wonderful lives. They sleep whenever they want, eat whenever they want, go in and out of the house whenever they want and THINK that my bed belongs to them. Keeping them off of my bed has been a battle for as long as we have had them. It probably always will be. Despite the little snag of ousting them off of my bed, they really do have it good. Their lives do get shaken up a couple times a year when we shave them. Yip, that's right. Shave them. There comes a point (usually about February) when I CANNOT stand the hair any longer. So we borrow my parents shavers and get to work. It's dirty, hairy and gross but the end result is worth it. We usually try to give them the "Lion Cut", which is to leave them a mane, the fur on their legs, and a little puff of hair at the end of their tail. Hence they look like little lions. So cute. And no more shedding! Yeah! Someday I will probably read this and wonder what I was thinking. Hopefully I won't have added anymore cats to the brood. I WILL NOT become the weird cat lady. I will not.

Someone in my fam asked who was the stray black cat laying on my driveway. I said, "Thats our cat, Harry Potter. He lives two doors down." I claim him. Thats cool, right?
